Why Dewey McGuirk?

I bring over 20 years experience in education to help you not only get approved for the WIOA grant, but to help you choose the right career path based on your skills and experience and match that to the best opportunities in the local job market. I walk you through all the steps to help you get approved in a timely manner so we can go to work to help you get trained, certified and then help with job placement.

From one of the people I helped:

Mr. McGuirk was very instrumental in helping me determine my educational path. I gave him my list of career and training objectives. He charted my options and identified advantages for each course available. He also explained career potential for each class. His guidance contributed to my finding my new job. (Thank you! Thank you!)

—WIOA Grants

Are you unemployed? Have you been laid off or received a notice of layoff? If so, you might qualify for a little known government grant designed to help people just like you who are unemployed and trying to get back into the job market. It is called the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides free training grants to help people get trained, certified and placed in high-demand fields such as information technology, cyber-security, human resources and project management

The idea is that there are fields in which there are not enough qualified people and there are declining fields in which there are too many people.  The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) addresses this problem by providing free funding for job training in high-demand fields to qualified would-be workers.  This training is intended to make your skills marketable so you can get a job. This is a grant, not a loan. Everything is covered, even the exam.

The amounts vary by county but can be as high as $10,000 in some areas.

My name is Dewey McGuirk and I am a WIOA expert at New Horizons.  I can help determine if you qualify, then walk you through the process to get you approved. You can call me anytime at 813-387-3503

—Dislocated Workers

If you have been laid off, terminated for performance, your job was eliminated, facility closed or received a notice of lay-off, then you can qualify as a dislocated worker. Recently, new categories were added for veterans and spouses of active duty service members. If you are a veteran and were honorably discharged within the last 48 months and are unemployed you might qualify. If your spouse is on active duty and you were forced to leave your job because he or she was reassigned you might qualify. There is also a special category for displaced homemakers.

—Adult Low Income
    and WIOA Youth

If you are on food stamps or have been on food stamps anytime within the last 6 months, if you or a family member are on SSI or SSDI, or have limited income, you might qualify under adult low income.

If you are between 18 – 24 there is a special program for youths. This can vary significantly from one county to the next. This grant can be a perfect solution to help get your foot in the door into a high demand career.
